The Delaware DOT had a relatively small IT staff and was beginning to encounter issues meeting the needs of satellite offices and rapid system development requirements. The Cygnus Research Corporation was brought in to perform a Business Process Reengineering effort. After analyzing the setup and cost limitations, Cygnus determined that individual development efforts and COTS product purchases were the most efficient solution.
The Delaware DOT worked with Cygnus to develop implementation standards, including documentation, hardware, software and configuration management guidelines. They also worked to devise standardized data formats to enable data integration for centralized systems. The plan was implemented and considered a major success by all involved parties. |
